Why I am a rolemodel rebel

And am I, really?

When Anupa asked me to become a member of the Rolemodel Rebels, I hesitated. Mother of three, working my way “up” from part time work in public relations to a full schedule / entrepreneurial role when they had grown a little older. I couldn’t see anything rebellious in it. But that’s not the point, the focus is a lot wider. The founders of the Rolemodel Rebels want to encourage women to offer reliable, high-quality products and services, in emerging technologies and other relevant sectors. Because that again helps more women to understand and apply emerging technologies and turn them into successful business models.

The platform is there to change the narrative and make women feel they are in the right place, by showcasing their entrepreneurial journeys, their expertise, and their skill sets.

This I like a lot, and I feel I can contribute a lot. I am now 56 years old. I made my way through a system where it was pretty clear who had the more family-oriented role and who would focus primarily on career. I founded my business at age 41, and have succeeded to grow it. During the pandemic, I re-invented my work and the way I deliver my services, taking it online in a very short time. In addition, I founded a not-for-profit organization and organized inspirational events for an audience of almost one thousand people.

Again caused by Covid, I completely re-organized my team and how we collaborated (online and offline), evaluating every step we took. So there is probably quite a bit that I can pass on to others, who are interested in hearing from me.

At the same time, I am a beginner. I opened up my second business in the UK last year. Whereas I have a known reputation in Germany, I am a nobody in London. The market is competitive, and I am still getting to know the business mentality. I find the re-start very grounding: asking fundamental questions again, assessing my core competencies, finding my specific niche. I am thrilled, because there is a lot of room to invent myself completely new.

What can I now give to younger women in the Rolemodel Rebel network?

  • I can be your coach and mentor.
  • Ask me anything around facilitation.
  • Or let me help you to tell your own very appealing business story.

I’m happy to support!
